good question. only resources is not enough to be happy in this life
it needs a system to govern the resources and the people
if you go back to 500 years before history muslims were the only people in the world rich, scientist, engineers and inventors. the west was in dark ages for 1000 yrs.

what happened in last 400 yrs which took muslims in dark ages
pls analyze Muslims left the center theme of human purpose of creation.
Human purpose of creation by Allah is to obey Him in all His commands.
By this purpose Muslims were sincere in all the things and hard working and honest not only in the worldly affairs but for the hereafter.
One can ask, how can we obey Allah with poor knowledge
who stopped you to get the knowledge. this life is a test for us. Just complaining of surrendering to the worldly environment will not make you good Muslim.
take the example of recent China and India.
these countries were the poorest in the world just 50 yrs before. now they are top of the world. if you work sincerely and follow islam inshallah, Allah will make you successful in this life and of course the Jannah heaven is waiting for you.
by the way beeing rich is not the criteria to be a honest muslim.
Allah is testing us
A rich person is tested for using his money for Allahs purpose. whether he is giving Zakat or not. and where he is using his money. he has to answer these questions to Allah.
a poor man is tested for his patience. and better off , because he has no zakat
pls try to get Islamic knowledge. Try to get wordly education what ever you get chance in this world and also try to work hard sincerely and pray Allah. insAllh you will be successful in this world and in here after.
